My second attempt at building a sofa turned out a bit better than my first. This time I wanted to see if I could do it all with 2×4’s. Keep the cost down to 60-70 bucks (not including cushions). The sofa ended up using 18, 8′ 2×4’s and some scrap plywood I had left over from some other projects. The pillows were re-used from the old sofa and re-upholstered. I had to order one new cushion back which ran about 25 bucks.
The 2×4’s (well… 1.5×3.5) were selected from the palette at home depot for their straight lines. I shaved off a quarter inch from each side to square off the boards. Their new measurement is 1.5″x3″ This made stacking the design a lot easier as well as evening out the overall proportions. In the spring i’ll sand down the boards and stain the whole sofa. I’ll post some updated pictures once thats done.

The sofa Looks great Godmund. I Love the ikea fabric- I’ve been eyeing that one for a while!
Yah I saw and it knew exactly what to do with it :-) I have a lot of tree stumps in my living room (Ill figure out what to do with them soon) so it fit perfectly.
